In many respects, the Five Star Movement (M5S) has emerged as one of the most interesting new political players in the February 2013 Italian general election -- catalysing a vast number of votes and, once in office, refusing to collaborate with any other established political party in the formation of a new government.
Being a fairly recent political formation, the rise and success of the M5S is extremely interesting for political and social scientists.
